As a general guide, most dogs need approximately 1 to 2 packages per week for every 15 lbs of body weight. Here is a quick reference to help you choose your quantity:
- Under 20 lbs - 2 to 3 packages per week
- 20 to 50 lbs - 3 to 6 packages per week
- 50 to 80 lbs - 6 to 10 packages per week
- 80 lbs and over - 10 or more packages per week

Novel protein diets are one of the most widely recommended approaches for managing food allergies in dogs. Because your dog hasn't been exposed to these proteins before, their immune system has nothing to react to. Combined with the removal of common allergens like artificial additives and fillers, many dogs on the Premium Blend see significant allergy relief within 4 - 8 weeks.
If your dog has a known sensitivity to a specific protein, we'd recommend starting with one they've never had before - rabbit and cod are particularly popular for allergy prone dogs. For general wellness or picky eaters, duck and salmon tend to be crowd favourites. Not sure? Give us a call and we'll help you narrow it down based on your dog's history.
We recommend a gradual 7 - 10 day transition: start with 25% Premium Blend mixed into your dog's current food for days 1 - 3, increase to 50/50 for days 4 - 6, then 75/25 for days 7 - 9, and 100% Premium Blend from day 10 onward. We'll include a full transition guide with your first order.

Yes - Doug's Kitchen is real, fresh food with no artificial preservatives. It should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 5 -7 days of opening, or you can freeze portions for up to 3 months. We'll walk you through storage best practices when you order.
